A British fashion house rooted in golf,
built to preserve The Standard.
The Varden Journal, Issue No. 001
What is The Standard?

Varden Club exists to preserve the values that run deeply through the game of golf. Honouring the discipline, restraint and patience the game teaches. We call it The Standard.
i
Play for the game, not the gallery.
Act with integrity, even when no one is watching.
ii
Quiet please.
Respect for what cannot be rushed.
iii
Honour the practice.
Preserve traditions that deserves to endure.

What is Varden Club?
Varden Club is a British luxury house rooted in golf. Its first expression is clothing, made by specialist makers in England, Scotland and Italy. Each garment is considered from material to cut to construction for the demands of the round. Each Edition is made once, and never repeated.
Luxury built around the round.
Before the Founders Edition was finalised, the movement of the swing and the hours around it were studied garment by garment. Those observations informed cut, seam placement and ease. The work is largely invisible, by design.

Three fibres, each uniquely exceptional
Materials
True Sea Island cotton represents less than 0.001% of global cotton production. Its unusually long staple creates a smoother yarn with fewer exposed fibre ends. For The Polo, that means an exceptionally soft feel and greater resistance to pilling.

- Caribbean Farm Location
- 12-16μ Fibre diameter
- GSI & WSIA Classification
- >38mm Staple length
Merino is the most extensively studied natural fibre in specialty clothing. It provides active thermoregulation across a 5–35°C range, absorbs moisture into the fibre itself, and is biochemically incompatible with odour-causing bacteria.

- Australia Farm Location
- <18.5μm Fibre diameter
- 35% Moisture absorption (vs. 0.4% for polyester)
- 15-25% Mechanical stretch (without elastane)
Grade A Cashmere has eight times the warmth of equivalent-weight wool. The hollow medullary core creates a network of static air pockets — the most effective thermal insulator in textile science. Moisture absorption is exothermic: a small amount of heat is generated when the wearer moves from exertion to rest.

- Mongolia Farm Location
- 14-15.5μm Fibre diameter
- 30% Moisture absorption (before feeling wet)
- 70/30 Merino blend in high-abrasion zones
